If you’ve been around Metro Vandalia or Metro Edwardsville at all, you’ve probably heard the term, “Multisite.” A quick explanation is that people living in different towns are working together under one mission to help bring people, “Closer to God, each other, and the disconnected.” The team currently in El Salvador is comprised of individuals from both Metro campuses and they are demonstrating how beautiful it is when we share the common goal of giving love away.
Our Vandalia campus pastor, Tim, gave a message Sunday through a translator. He did such a great job of explaining God’s love and grace. Some of the teenage members of our team have been leading Bible lessons, painting faces during the carnival, and connecting with the teenagers in El Salvador. Friendships have been forged between members of our campuses, and we can see that God is clearly inviting people from each site to use their gifts to show His love for the people of this beautiful country.
If you receive encouragement from this update, please know that age and location are not barriers for God. He delights in our willingness to jump out of our comfort zones and work alongside others that have the same passion for Him. Some of our team members worked tirelessly to fundraise for this trip, some have experienced incredible loss recently, and others have fought life altering illness. They all have different stories, but they have come together under one purpose and one passion to make a difference in the lives of people that need to know God’s love. Perhaps this is the very best definition of multisite we have seen yet. One church, two locations, one incredible God.
