POSITION OVERVIEW:
We are seeking a dynamic and passionate individual to serve as the College Pastor at Metro Community Church. This role involves overseeing a vibrant college ministry that has a large group meeting on Tuesday nights and provides a nurturing environment for over 190 college students and young adults. The primary focus of this ministry is to develop young leaders, foster connections between college students and the local church, and encourage them to grow in their faith journey with Jesus. In addition to the weekly Tuesday evening meetings, the ministry also offers small groups throughout the week to promote community and deeper spiritual growth among the students.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Ministry Leadership and Vision:

• Provide overall leadership and vision for the college ministry, aligning with the mission and values of Metro Community Church.
• Develop and implement strategies to engage and connect college students and young adults with the ministry.
• Create an atmosphere that fosters spiritual growth, discipleship, and leadership development amongst the students.

Tuesday Evening Gatherings:

• Plan and organize impactful Tuesday night meetings, ensuring they are biblical, engaging, relevant, and welcoming to college students and young adults.
• Prepare and deliver dynamic and relevant sermons or teachings that address the needs and challenges of college life, while pointing students towards Jesus.
• Coordinate worship, guest speakers, and all other elements of the Tuesday night gatherings, ensuring they align with the ministry's objectives.

Small Group Ministry:

• Develop and oversee a network of small groups that meet at various times throughout the week, providing opportunities for students to connect, grow, and find community.
• Recruit, train, and support small group leaders, equipping them to facilitate meaningful discussions, prayer, and discipleship within their groups.

Discipleship and Mentoring:

• Build relationships with college students and young adults, investing in their spiritual development and journey.
• Provide pastoral care, counseling, and mentorship to individuals and small groups, offering guidance and support as they navigate challenges and seek to deepen their faith.
• Encourage and equip students to take active steps in their walk with Jesus, such as participating in local church activities, serving in ministry, and engaging in outreach initiatives.

Team Collaboration and Church Integration:

• Collaborate with other church staff and leaders to integrate college students and young adults into the broader church community.
• Work closely with the student ministry within the church to ensure a seamless transition and continuity of discipleship for students transitioning from high school to college.
• Participate in staff meetings, training, and church-wide events as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• A personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ, with a passion for leading young adults in their faith journey.
• Bachelor's degree (preferred).
• Previous experience in college ministry, pastoral ministry, or related roles (preferred).
• Strong communication skills, both in teaching and interpersonal interactions.
• Ability to connect with and relate to college students and young adults from diverse backgrounds.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, equip, and develop leaders within a ministry context.
• Strong organizational and administrative skills, with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
• Team-oriented mindset, with a willingness to collaborate and integrate within the larger church community.
